Undergraduate studies


Required documents:

1. Graduation certificate of secondary education – original document and Xerox

2. The record of a didactic process from the foreign school. The record should include the list of didactic courses, grades for those courses, the number of hours designed for those courses (the list of subjects and the list of received grades) as well as the scale of grades valid in a given country – original document and Xerox.
The scale of grades that the candidate could receive at a given higher education institution is necessary.   
 
3. The diploma should be filed along with a legalization issued by a Polish Embassy or with a apostille.

Legalization is required from candidates whose country is not on the above list concerning apostille (according to The 5 October 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization for Foreign Public Documents). Legalization may be issued by the embassy of the Republic of Poland in a given country.

WARNING
Legalization and apostille are required even if a given country signed an agreement lifting the necessity of an official recognition of foreign certificates and diplomas from a given country. 

4. The translation into Polish of documents 1-2 along with legalization and apostille done by a certified translator registered on the list of Certified Translators of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Poland or certified by the consul of the Republic of Poland from the country in which the documents have been issued – original document and Xerox.

5. The certificate confirming that the candidate’s graduation certificate for secondary education allows him/her to take up higher education studies at all types of higher education institutions in the country in which the graduation certificate of secondary education was issued. Such certificate may be issued by the embassy of the Republic of Poland in a given country, the embassy of this country in Poland or the equivalent of Ministry of Education (“Ministerstwo Oświaty”) in a given country (in that case this document should be translated into Polish by a certified translator).
The certificate is not required if the proper information can be found on the graduation certificate of secondary education.


6. The rest of the documents required in the enrollment process from candidates with Polish citizenship:

- signed form for personal details (the form available on candidate’s individual account),
- Identity card Xerox,
- medical certificate stating the possibility of taking up studies at a given major (refers only to Management and Engineering of Production major from Engineering and Economics Faculty – the referrals are issued by the Faculty Enrollment Committee).
- four photographs (34x45 mm) without headgear,
- disabled candidates who will apply for scholar for disabled must submit a Xerox of an up-to-date medical certificate defining the level of disability.
Those documents don’t need to be submitted personally.

7. The candidate is obliged to make an official recognition (‘nostryfikacja’) of his/her graduation certificate of secondary education within the first semester of studies. (The ‘nostryfikacja’ is done by the Department of Education, the proper institution for the University of Economics is the Wrocław Department of Education, more information you will find on: www.kuratorium.wroclaw.pl/index.php?id_kat=40


Graduate studies


Required documents:

1. Master’s diploma or bachelor’s diploma – original document and Xerox.

2. Supplement, i.e. transcript of student’s grades which includes information on credited or not credited subjects and on the grades he received during the didactic process – original document and Xerox.
The scale for the grades the student could receive at the higher education institution.

3. The diploma should be filed along with a legalization issued by a Polish Embassy or with a apostille.

7. The candidate is obliged to make an official recognition (‘nostryfikacja’) of his/her diploma within the first semester of studies. (The recognition is done by the University of Economics, the payment is 2000 PLN. The Vice-rector for Education Affairs may exempt from this payment.)

Foreigners are charged with the following fees for undergraduate and graduate studies
:

- Application fee: 200 euro.
- Tuition fee (paid only after the student is preliminarily accepted to studies): 2500 euro per academic year.
- The payment for an official recognition (‘nostryfikacja’) of the master’s or bachelor’s diploma: 2000 PLN (concerning only students of graduate studies). The Vice-rector for Education Affairs may exempt from this payment. The payment should be done the moment the official recognition process done by the University of Economics.

- The payments for studies are paid on the bank account of the Wrocław University of Economics with conversion into PLN according to an average euro exchange rate of NBP from the day of payment. The payments are made for the whole educational period, not later than on the date the educational process begins.
- Holders of Polish scholarships and citizens of one of the European Union Member States do not have to pay for tuition.

Taking up studies by foreigners according to the rules for Polish citizens.

The foreigners may take up studies according to rules for polish citizens (free studies) if they have:

- permanent resident card – permission to settle, valid Card of the Pole, citizenship of  one of the European Union Member States, citizenship of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Member States, citizenship of contracting parties of the European Economic Area, citizenship of Swiss Confederation and the members of  their family who have the permission for permanent residence,
- a refugee status granted in the Republic of Poland,
- temporary protection status on the territory of the Republic of Poland,
- migrant worker status and who are at the same time European Union Member State citizens, Swiss Confederation citizens, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Member State citizens or the citizens of contracting parties of the European Economic Area provided that they are or were employed in Poland or the member of his/her family status (provided that he/she lives on the territory of the Republic of Poland),
- the EU long-term resident permit on the territory of the Republic of Poland,
- the temporary resident permit pursuant to Art. 53, item 1. points 7, 13 and 14 of the Foreigners Act of 13 June 2003 (Journal of Laws nr. 128, item 1175 as amended)
- the supplementary protection on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
These applicants are not entitled to maintenance grants, grants for the disabled, accommodation grants, food allowance and student aids.


The foreigners who take part in the enrolment according to the rules for Polish citizens must fulfill the given major admission criteria established by the Wrocław University of Economy.

Additional documents required from foreigners:

1. Visa/residence card or other document allowing the stay in the Republic of Poland during the educational period and confirming a legal stay in Poland for the time of enrolment and at least till November-December of an academic year in which they started their studies: visa, passport, if a person is a citizen of European Union - the equivalent of ID card, residence card (Xerox and the original to be freely available for inspection).

2. A medical certificate confirming suitability of a candidate to study a given major and form of education.

3. An insurance policy in case of illness or accident for the period of studies in the Republic of Poland or the European Health Insurance Card or proof of entering the National Health Fund immediately after beginning their education.

4. The document proving the knowledge of the language in which the studies are conducted (mentioned in the appendix nr 2 of the Regulation of the Prime Minister from 24 January 2007 The way of conducting qualification process in civil service, Journal of Laws nr 13, item 82; nr 249, item 1857; from 2008 – nr 93, item 587). 
Certificates, diplomas or other documents proving that a person has finished a secondary school in which the courses were conducted in the language in which the foreigner is to study in Poland  also prove his/her knowledge of this language.

5. Official statement that the candidate has financial resources indispensable for covering the costs of living in the course of his/her studies.


The rules for accepting school certificates are regulated by:



1. Art. 93 of the Enactment of 7th September 1991 on Education System (Year 2004, Journal of Laws, nr 265, item 2572 with later changes).

2. Regulation of the Minister of Education and Science of 6 April 2006, on the ‘nostryfikacja’ (official recognition of a document) of School Certificates and Maturity Certificates Obtained Abroad (Year 2006, Journal of Laws, nr 63, item 443).

3. The 5 October 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Year 2005, Journal of Laws, nr 112, item 938 and 939).


The rules of taking up and undergoing studies by foreigners:


1. The Minister’s of Education and Higher Education regulation passed on 12 October 2006 (Year 2006, Journal of Laws, nr 190, item 1406 with further changes).

2. The Minister’s of Education and Higher Education regulation passed on 9 September 2009 (Year 2009, Journal of Laws, nr 176, item 1365)

4. The Minister’s of Education and Higher Education regulation passed on 14 December 2006 on scholarships for foreigners of Polish origin who study in the place of their residence (Year 2006, Journal of Laws, nr 240, item 1743).

5. The Minister of Work and Social Policy regulation passed on 16 December 2009 on the minimal sums that foreigners who undertake or continue studies and who take part in research works should have in order to cover the cost of living in the Republic of Poland and home coming as well as on legal documents which may confirm the possibility of acquiring such sums (Year 2009, Journal of Laws, nr 222, item 1766)
