Leszek A. Maciaszek jest pracownikiem akademickim, konsultantem i doradca IT, autorem i edytorem miedzynarodowych podrecznikow i ksiazek naukowych. Stopnie naukowe magistra, doktora i doktora habilitowanego uzyskał w dziedzinie informatyki ekonomicznej z Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego we Wrocławiu (odpowiednio w latach 1972, 1977 i 2008). W Australii od 1985, był najpierw wykładowcą a potem starszym wykładowcą Uniwersytetu Wollongong, w latach 1991-2010 był profesorem Uniwersytetu Macquarie w Sydney, a od grudnia 2010 jest Honorary Research Fellow na tym uniwersytecie. Od lutego 2009, jest profesorem Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego we Wrocławiu, od wrzesnia 2010 Dyrektorem Instytutu Informatyki Ekonomicznej, a od pażdziernika 2010 Kierownikiem Katedry Inżynierii Systemów Informatycznych Zarządzania na tejze uczelni.
Zainteresowania naukowe prof. Maciaszka w definiowaniu imperatywów architektonicznych, inżynierskich i organizacyjnych dla adaptacyjnych systemów informatycznych przedsiębiorstw i e-biznesu wypływają z doświadczeń uzyskanych w angażach przemysłowych. Przez 10 lat (1994-2004) był właścicielem i dyrektorem firmy konsultingowej MACOMP Software w Sydney. Pracował zmiennie w uniwersytetach i w przemyśle. Obejmował różne pozycje wizytujące i zadaniowe w organizacjach narodowych, korporacjach międzynarodowych i instytucjach szkolnictwa wyższego w krajach na czterech kontynentach, m.in. Australia, Francja, Niemcy, Włochy, Kuwejt, Macao, Malezja, Polska, Singapur, Tajlandia, Holandia i USA.
Prof. Maciaszek jest autorem około 140 publikacji w zakresie baz danych, technologii obiektowej, inżynierii oprogramowania, modelowania biznesowego i przetwarzania usług. Jego ostatnie książki Addison-Wesley: “Requirements Analysis and Systems Design” i “Practical Software Engineering” zostały przetłumaczone na języki na chiński, rosyjski oraz włoski. Jest inicjatorem kilku międzynarodowych konferencji, w tym: ENASE (Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering) http://www.enase.org/ i BPSC (Business Process and Services Computing) http://www.bpsc-conf.org/). Członek kolegiów redakcyjnych czasopism, w tym „Requirements Engineering” (Springer) i “International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design” (Information Resources Management Association). Od końca 2009 prowadzi międzynarodowy zespół badawczy pod nazwą „Service Oriented Systems Engineering and Management” http://sosem.ue.wroc.pl/

Leszek A. Maciaszek is an academic, researcher, industry consultant and adviser, and author and editor of international textbooks and scientific monographs . He obtained his MSc, PhD, and Habilitation degrees in Informatics from University of Economics, Wroclaw, Poland (in 1972, 1977, and 2008 respectively). In Australia since 1985, he was a Lecturer and later a Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong, from 1991 to 2010 he was an Associate Professor of Computing at Macquarie University Sydney, and since December 2010 he is a Honorary Research Fellow at that university. Since February 2009, he is a Professor at Wroclaw University of Economics, since September 2010 he is there the Director of Institute of Business Informatics and since October 2010 the Head of Department of MIS Engineering.
Prof. Maciaszek's research interests in defining architectural, engineering and organizational imperatives for adaptive enterprise and e-business systems stem from the experience gained in industry engagements. For ten years (1994-2004) he was the owner and director of a consultancy firm MACOMP Software in Sydney. He has been working interchangeably in academia and industry. His visiting positions and assignments have included national organizations, international corporations and educational institutions in countries spanning four continents, including Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Macao, Malaysia, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, The Netherlands, and USA.
Prof. Maciaszek has authored about 140 positions related to databases, object technology, software engineering, business modeling and services computing. His latest Addison-Wesley books “Requirements Analysis and System Design” and “Practical Software Engineering” were translated to Chinese, Russian and Italian. He has initiated a number of international conferences, including ENASE (Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering) http://www.enase.org/ and BPSC (Business Process and Services Computing) http://www.bpsc-conf.org/. He serves on journal editorial boards, including „Requirements Engineering” (Springer) i “International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design” (Information Resources Management Association).
